This Overt Ballistic and Stab Proof Vest is manufactured by Fortis.
Fortis are our preferred supplier and are a major manufacturer of ballistic and stab protection equipment, including body armour, helmets, shields. They also manufacture and supply police and uniform clothing and are a major supplier to the UK MoD. All their products carry UK Home Office and United States National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certification. The armour is manufactured in their ISO 9001:2000 accredited factory in Leicester, England.

This certification is valid from 29.09.2008 to 29.09.2011.

If damage occurs to the armour panels (not covers) during an on-duty confrontation with sharp instruments, we will repair them free of charge. Simply enclose the original police report stating that your Fortis Body Armour protected you, explaining how the damage occurred. (Customers are responsible for all shipping costs). If any components are damaged due to neglect, misuse or abuse,the above guarantees are null and void.
The Material
The material is an advanced composite of ultra-high-tensile fibres and thermoplastic resin that has outstanding toughness and durability. The method of manufacture of the composite is heat-compaction. The resulting composite is covered by a worldwide patent. The composite is a thin flexible sheet material of impregnated textile, supplied as a raw material to manufacturers of body armour. The material is cut into pattern shapes and assembled in pluralities of layers in an outer cover with adjustable shoulder and waist fastenings and worn as a body armour ‘vest’.

The two standards referred to are Stab Resistance for Body Armour and Ballistic Resistance for Body Armour.
Ballistic Body Armour Standard
The levels of protection cover the following threat groupings:

HG1 - Low Handgun: Protection against standard ammunition fired from short-barrelled handguns.

HG2 - High Handgun/ Carbine: Protection against standard ammunition fired from long barrelled handguns, 9mm carbines and sub machine guns.

RF1 – Rifle: Protection against soft-core ammunition fired from rifles.

SG1 – Shotgun: Protection against BB and No.6 shot fired from full-length shotguns at close range.
